eLiRec Wins the REGIOSTARS Award 2026

The project eLiRec – Greener Battery Recycling has been awarded the European Commission’s REGIOSTARS Award 2026 in the category “A Green Europe.”

With its innovative approach to more sustainable battery recycling, eLiRec makes an important contribution to conserving resources and advancing a circular economy. The award recognizes projects that create significant added value for regions and citizens with the support of European regional development funding.

The project is funded by the Saarland Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digital Affairs and Energy through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as well as additional state funding.

The REGIOSTARS Award is regarded as one of the most prestigious distinctions for EU-funded projects and was presented during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels.

Congratulations to Prof. Volker Presser, Head of the Energy Materials Research Department, and his team on this outstanding achievement!
