Open Campus at Saarland University – And INM Right in the Middle of It

On June 12, we had the opportunity to showcase our research on the campus of Saarland University. Although the weather was not entirely on our side, we were delighted to inspire many visitors at our exhibition booths.

Interactive stations invited guests to explore the diverse research activities at INM:

Caviar That Melts in Your Mouth – A Taste of Tomorrow’s Medicine!
Our vegan caviar is an example of innovative biological materials. The production process is similar to the encapsulation of living cells that can produce and release drugs directly inside the body. At our booth, you could not only see cutting-edge technology but also taste it – and even make it yourself.

Counterfeit Money? Not with Us!
We bet you have already held INM technology in your hands. At least if you have ever owned a €100 banknote. Visit us to find out what we mean. We will also demonstrate how a motion sensor made from ultra-fine electrically conductive fibers works.

Glowing Robot Seeds Collect Environmental Data
Detecting mercury, monitoring CO₂, measuring temperature: intelligent “seeds” made from advanced materials can monitor the environment. Tiny flying robots drift through the air, collecting data even in hard-to-reach locations and displaying it through light signals. Afterwards, they decompose in an environmentally friendly manner.

Build Your Own Battery
We develop nanomaterials for the sustainable use of energy, water, and resources—for long-lasting batteries, water purification, pollutant removal, and the recovery of valuable elements. Learn more about sustainable energy materials and build your own battery!

Hit It Hard – And the Liquid Turns Solid
Electrofluids are shape-changing liquids that conduct electricity—and become solid when pressure is applied. Explore our soft sensors and guide “El Fluido” through a virtual world by pressing and bending. We will show you how our technology is helping to shape the future of wearables, robotics, and smart devices.
