The principal remit of the Engineering Service Group is the development and production of scientific equipment and components for basic research and projects for INM’s Program Divisions. The assignments here range from small laboratory equipment to pilot plants. The specifications from the research are used to develop concepts and, using CATIA-V5-CAD, they are then turned into designs manufactured in the INM workshops with modern equipment such as a CAM system, 5-axis HSC precision miller, or an electrical discharge machine. Furthermore, service assignments are carried out for the other divisions of INM and, as part of a collaboration, workshop tasks are carried out for the “Engineering Physics” department at Saarland University.
