The INM appoints Fellows to initiate and strengthen scientific collaboration. The fellowships create space for new approaches and promote exchange across disciplinary boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INM Fellows are research group leaders from academic institutions. They receive support to initiate or further develop joint projects, gain access to the INM\u2019s scientific infrastructure, and have the opportunity to involve members of their research groups in the Institute\u2019s research activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INM Fellows are selected on the basis of scientific excellence, the strategic relevance of the proposed collaboration topic, and clear synergies with the INM\u2019s research units. In this way, the fellowships contribute to the further development of the INM\u2019s research profile and to unlocking new scientific potential.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Julia Schulze-Hentrich<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since January 1, 2025, Prof. Dr. Julia Schulze-Hentrich<\/a>, Professor of Genetics at Saarland University, has been an \u201cINM Fellow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research focuses on the analysis of gene expression and epigenetic modifications in the context of complex diseases. During her fellowship, she investigates the interaction of cells with (therapeutic) materials at the genetic and epigenetic levels. Collaborative partners at the INM include the Research Departments Dynamic Biomaterials and Materials Synthetic Biology and the Research Groups Bioprogrammable Materials and Immuno-Materials.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Since May 1, 2025, Prof. Dr. Matthias Finkbeiner<\/a>, a professor at TU Berlin, has been an \u201cINM Fellow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Matthias Finkbeiner is one of the world\u2019s leading scientists in the field of life cycle assessment (LCA). As head of the Sustainable Engineering research group and executive director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering at TU Berlin, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of methods for comprehensive environmental assessment. At INM, his collaboration partners are the Dynamic Biomaterials research department and the Leibniz ScienceCampus \u201cLiving Therapeutic Materials.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
